Along with support of people in Uttar Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party also feels that luck favours them in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019. BJP media coordinator Rakesh Tripathi drew an analogy regarding connection of number 7 with UP polls, and said that number seven suits the saffron party and will emerge lucky for them.
The Lok Sabha election in Uttar Pradesh is going to be conducted in seven phases. The saffron party thinks that the seven-phase polls in UP will be lucky for them as the number seven has a special significance in Hindu religion. Here are some of the reasons why number 7 has a special importance in Hinduism and is considered lucky.
- In Hinduism, 7 is a symbolic presentation of earthly plane. According to Hindu scriptures, earth is situated between series of 14 planes of existence, belonging to higher and lower regions. There is one more plane known as Zero plane situated above the 14th plane, which is the highest one. Thus, Earth is situated on the 7th position, with seven planes above it, and seven planes below it.
- It is also believed that our body consists of seven planes of consciousness or sheaths. These are Anna, Prana, Mano, Vignana, Janah, Tapo and Brahma. These are also referred to as seven wheels of energy.
- Hindu mythology mentions that Goddess Durga manifested herself into seven forms during a fight with demon Raktabija. There forms are known as ‘Saptamatrikas’. These are Brahmani, Maheswari or sivani, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Chamundi or Narasimhi and Aindri.
- The Sun God rides on a chariot which is run by seven horses. Each horse depicts a particular colour, energy and day in the week.
- According to Hindu mythology, there are seven sons of Brahma, known as ‘Saptarishis’.
- Hinduism also says that there are seven seas in the world and seven spheres on planet earth.
- It is also believed that there seven holy cities i.e. ‘Sapta-puris’. These are known as Kashipuri, Kanchipuruam, Mayapuri, Ayodhyapuri, Dwarakapuri, Mathurapuri and Avantikapuri.
- Number seven is also considered holy in Indian marriages. The bride and the bride groom take seven rounds together around the fire during marriages. It is also considered that the bond between the married couple remains for 7 lives.
- It is further believed that there are seven colours in sunlight given by Sun God, which are also the seven colours of the rainbow.
- There are seven basic musical notes which are called “Saptaswaras or Saptaswarangal”.
