A builder has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman while he was assessing the damage at flood-affected Townsville homes last week.

It will be alleged the local builder inappropriately touched the woman without her consent in the Townsville suburb of Kirwan last Wednesday.

The 46-year-old man was charged with two counts of sexual assault and was due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on April 16.
