These images show the last moments 21-year-old Samantha Josephson was seen alive after leaving a Columbia bar.

Police say around 2 AM Friday, the University of South Carolina senior got into a black Chevy Impala mistakenly believing it was her Uber ride.

SOUNDBITE: COLUMBIA POLICE CHIEF WILLIAM HOLBROOK, SAYING: "What we know now is that she had in fact summoned an Uber ride.

And was waiting for that ride that Uber ride to come.

She opened the door, got into it and departed with the suspect driving." The young woman's body was found by hunters Saturday in a wooded area along a dirt road about 70 miles away.

Police have charged 24-year-old Nathaniel David Rowland with Josephson's kidnapping and murder.

He allegedly activated the car's child-proof locks to keep her from escaping.

SOUNDBITE: COLUMBIA POLICE CHIEF WILLIAM HOLBROOK, SAYING: "The analysis concluded that the blood in the suspect vehicle was that of the victim.

Also a cell phone belonging to the victim was found in the passenger compartment of the suspect vehicle." Josephson's mother read an emotional statement at the suspect's bond hearing on Saturday.

Surrounded by family members, Marci Josephson said, "He has taken away a part of our heart, soul and life.

It sickens us to think that his face was the last thing that my baby girl saw on this Earth." Uber declined to comment on Josephson's murder but in 2017, the company launched a public awareness campaign warning of scams. It suggested riders should always match the license plate and driver's name before getting into a car.
