Man charred to death after shop catches fire
tnn | Apr 2, 2019, 04:26 ISTKollam: A 68-year-old was found charred to death after his ironing shop caught fire, at Punalur on Monday morning. Isaac Alexander of Kanjiyil House, Chemmandur, is the deceased.
The fire destroyed half of the clothes stored in the shop.
Police believe that the incident happened on Sunday night, but came to light only after people noticed smoke billowing out from the shop. As there were no shops nearby, nobody spotted the fire or heard cries.
Punalur police said their primary assumption is that a short circuit caused the fire. A case has been registered and an investigation is on.
Alexander is survived by wife Helen, who is working as a home nurse in Ernakulam, and children Adarsh and Abhilash.
