BJP axe likely on former Dhanbad MP

Dhanbad: BJP is likely to take disciplinary action against former party MP Rita Verma for allegedly making derogatory remarks in the media against the party’s Dhanbad parliamentary candidate, P N Singh. Recently, Verma called Singh a “worthless candidate”.
Verma represented Dhanbad constituency four times since 1996. Sources in local BJP said that Verma, too, was trying for the ticket and is upset at being ignored.

State BJP spokesperson and in-charge of Dhanbad, Deen Dayal Barnawal, who was in town to interact with the media, said, “This kind of indiscipline is not tolerated by the party and the matter would be brought to the notice of higher authorities. One doesn’t expect such behaviour from a senior person like Verma.”

Talking about the forthcoming LS election, Barnawal said that the 2019 polls will be a fight between a nationalist party like BJP versus those (parties) who indulge in anti-national activities. “Neighbouring countries like Pakistan and China who were in the habit of bullying India are now within their limits. However, opposition parties here don’t believe this,” he added.

Briefing the media on the achievements of the incumbent government, he said, “Previous governments were not able to provide electricity to remote villages, but the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government has done a remarkable job on this front.”

Replying to a question on former RJD state president Annapurna Devi joining the party, Barnawal said that Annapurna was disappointed with RJD leadership and joined BJP without setting any terms. “The party is not under no compulsion to give the ticket for Koderma constituency to Annapurna Devi ,” he said.
