A police incident has shut a road in Rhyl.

Officers were called to John Street where a number of police vehicles have been spotted.

People have been asked to avoid the area while the incident is ongoing.

North Wales Police wrote on Twitter: "Officers are currently dealing with an incident on John Street, Rhyl. No risk to the public. The road is closed, but please avoid the area."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 1.34pm and sent an emergency ambulance to the scene where it currently remains.”

Another witness says the man was seen throwing objects out of the window.

Another witness says the top floor window was smashed and a man was standing on the window ledge earlier.

It is understood police have surrounded a flat and a man is talking to them from an upstairs window

John Street in both directions closed due to police incident from B5118 West Parade to Ffynnongroew Road. Traffic is coping well.
