Rajkot: The man who fled after stabbing a priest to death in Chuda village of Surendranagar district on Thursday evening was caught from Juhapura in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Surendranagar local crime branch (LCB) officials arrested Sarfaraz Belim who had allegedly stabbed Gaurang Shukla (32) to death, suspecting him of having an illicit relationship with his wife.

Belim stabbed Shukla eight times, killing him on the spot. He then fled, taking Shukla’s bike along with him.

“Belim used to come to a shrine along with his wife Rubina, where Shukla served as the priest. Shukla would tie sacred threads around Rubina’s wrist, which raised Belim’s suspicion of the duo having an affair. Nursing a grudge against Shukla, Belim decided to kill him,” an official from Chuda police station said. tnn
