Villagers from Thippanur village on Saturday threatened to boycott elections if the perpetrators of the Thudiyalur child sexual abuse case are not arrested.

The villagers declared this to P.R.G. Arunkumar, AIADMK MLA from Coimbatore (North), who visited the parents of the seven-year-old girl on Friday.

The women also demanded that no candidate should come to their village to seek votes until the perpetrators are caught. Following this, Mr. Arunkumar promised that he would personally urge the police personnel to arrest the culprits soon.

Meanwhile, P. Rathinam, senior lawyer and general secretary of Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam K. Ramakrishnan demanded action against R. Pandiarajan, Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore (Rural) over the Pollachi and Thudiyalur cases of sexual abuse.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, they

called for disciplinary action against Mr. Pandiarajan for revealing the name of the complainant in the Pollachi case, claiming that he was incapable of investigating the Thudiyalur case after committing the illegal act of revealing the name.
