Madras Round Table 1 (MRT 1) that has raised resources for community service initiatives focused on children’s education and healthcare has come up with a campaign called Keep Them In School. As part of the fundraiser, Tarun Tahiliani will be showcasing his collection for the first time ever in Chennai. “I am glad to be associated with this cause which aims to raise funds for a campaign. I wanted to support my dear friend, Sindoori Reddy, as this subject is close to my heart. My father was very involved with education and spent the last 20 years of his life solely with the servants of Children Society, and the education of over 50,000 kids,” the designer said.
The campaign focuses on five under-resourced schools and the aim is to create more conducive, pleasant and safe learning environments for the students, which will encourage them to continue their studies. This is achieved through a variety of individual projects — building classrooms, renovating toilet facilities and other infrastructure-based initiatives. “We are looking forward to what we can do through the year to add value, comfort and security to the students at the five schools we are supporting through the campaign,” said Tarun Reddy, Chairman of MRT1.
