IPSW members create awareness on constituency, candidates, and the need to vote

A team of nearly 25 people go door to door in Coimbatore, educating voters on their constituency, every day. They have covered 8,200 houses in the last 20 days.

“My Constituency My Pride” is an initiative of Insight Political Strategists and Workforce (IPSW), a political start up.

Launched in 2016, the start up has operations in several States and provides data analytics service to candidates and parties, conducts awareness campaign, and has plans to open schools in six cities, including Coimbatore, to train political party campaigners.

According to Jaivarda, founder and chairman of IPSW, the start up conducted “My Constituency My Pride” campaign in Pollachi, covering nearly 3,000 houses in two weeks, and is doing it in Salem and Chennai, apart from Coimbatore in the State. The team members, all aged between 24 and 28, go door to door, especially in the semi-urban and rural areas of a constituency and educate voters on the candidates, their constituency and the need to vote.

The focus this year in this region is on creating awareness. Several voters do not know which constituency their area comes under, the candidates from various political parties who are contesting, and even if this is general elections or Assembly elections, he adds.

They also take down details of those who want to volunteer and take part in campaigns of political parties. “We have received forms from 850 people who want to volunteer in Coimbatore,” he says. Interested persons can register online too, he adds.

The awareness drive will continue here till elections and the plan is to double the number of houses covered.
