7 candidates have criminal records
TNN | Mar 30, 2019, 07:02 ISTNoida/Ghaziabad: Three candidates from Gautam Budh Nagar and four from Ghaziabad have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits. Prominent among them is BJP’s General VK Singh (retd), with two FIRs against him.
The former Army chief has stated in his affidavit that the cases were lodged against him at Sansad Marg police station and Teen Murti police station in the national capital.
The case registered at Sansad Marg police station is related to Baba Ramdev’s agitation in Delhi in 2012. It was lodged under IPC sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 34 (common intention). The second is a defamation case filed by Lieutenant General Tajendra Singh (retd), in which Singh was granted bail.
In GB Nagar, BSP’s Satveer Nagar is involved in a 2008 case of intimidation and theft, registered at Kasna police station. “It was a minor local dispute between two sections. There is no case as of now, as the matter has been resolved,” said Lakhmi Singh, the district head of BSP.
