Two Zirakpur residents held with 70 gram heroin

AMBALA: The Baldev Nagar police have registered a case against two accused identified as Satnam and Gurjant, both residents of villages in Zirakpur area of district Mohali after recovering 70-gram heroin (smack) from their possession.
The accused were held by the crime investigation agency (CIA)-2 following a tip-off that both were actively smuggling heroin in Ambala areas. On Friday, at 11.08 pm the Baldev Nagar police have registered a case against both the arrested accused Satnam and Gurjant accused under Section 21 of the Narcotics Drugs Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act to start the investigation.
As per the First Information Report (FIR), “On Friday, the CIA-2 team was patrolling near Sultanpur Chowk on Grand Trunk (GT) Road when they received the tip-off about two accused involved in smuggling heroin in Ambala areas. Acting as per tip-off the team laid a checking post and started checking suspected movement. After some time, the accused were spotted riding a motorcycle and on suspicion, they were asked to spot for checking. Following the due procedure, while checking the team recovered 70-gram of heroin (smack) wrapped in white polythene from the left pocket of accused Satnam.”
CIA-2 in-charge inspector Ravi said, “The accused Satnam and Gurjant have been supplying heroin in Ambala area from past some time and on Friday night we received the information about their movement in the area following which they were arrested after recovering the contraband. On Saturday, both the accused were presented before the court which has sent them on four-day police remand with our team and further details would be extracted during the interrogation.”
