84 commercial establishments sealed in Godadara arcade
TNN | Mar 30, 2019, 13:16 ISTSURAT: Officials of Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) fire safety and emergency department on Friday sealed 84 shops, hospitals and other establishments located in Shreeji Arcade of Dindoli-Godadara as these places did not have any sort of fire safety equipment.
The sealed shops include one in the underground basement, 26 on the ground floor, 21 on the first floor, 14 in second floor, eight on the third floor and 13 on the fourth floor of the arcade. Besides these, one office was also sealed among the 84 commercial places.
Chief fire officer, Basant Ravat said, “We also found three hospitals with indoor patients and ICUs without any safety equipment. We have served them notices to set up fire safety system and follow the regulations within a specified time frame.”
These hospitals are Shristi Children and General Hospital with ICU, physiotherapy departments; Vasu Prasuti Grih and General Hospital and Shreeji Medicine and Children’s Hospital.
