A massive blast ripped through a car on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Saturday when a CRPF convoy was passing by, bringing back the memories of the Pulwama attack.

The explosion triggered a fire which charred the vehicle. While there was no loss of life, a CRPF bus in the vicinity suffered minor damages, said Ashish K Jha, spokesperson of the force in Jammu.

The incident occurred at 10.30 am when the convoy from Srinagar was crossing Banihal on its way to Jammu, said officials. The car was reduced to a metal mangle.

Personnel from the police, paramilitary and Army visited the spot, while authorities launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the blast. "The incident being investigated in respect to all possible angles," said Jha.

On February 14, an operative from Jaish-e-Mohammad rammed a Maruti Eeco van laden with explosives into a CRPF bus that was part of a huge convoy.

The attack left 40 soldiers dead, sparking major tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad and a surgical strike by India deep inside Pakistan.
