Ahmedabad: BJP chief Amit Shah who is all set to file his nomination papers for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat on Saturday flagged off his election campaign by garlanding the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel here.
Amit Shah, who is contesting the Lok Sabha poll for the first time would file nomination in the presence of Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and other top leaders of the party.
Along with top party leadership, Shah will be accompanied by several allies members like Prakash Singh Badal of the Akali Dal, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and others.

Ahead of the nomination, Shah embarked on 'Vijay Sankalp Sabha' in Ahmedabad where along with leaders, Amit Shah's son Jay Shah was also present.
Amit Shah is also expected to address the public after the mega rally.
At the 'Vijay Sankalp Sabha' Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said, "My father taught me to do everything from heart, issues that we raised were of the people, we (BJP-Shiv Sena) had differences but we settled them. We never stabbed the from back and never will."
Shah has replaced BJP veteran L K Advani, who had been winning uninterrupted from Gandhinagar since 1998, from the prestigious constituency.
The BJP state unit prepared the ground for the show of strength to mark the occasion.
“Amitbhai started his political career as a booth worker and today, under his leadership, the BJP has become the world’s largest political party. When a leader of his stature is filing his nomination papers from Gandhinagar, we will make it a historic moment,” said state party president Jitu Vaghani.
The four-km ‘rath yatra’ is destined to reach KK Nagar in the Ghatlodia Assembly segment.
The convoy will be accompanied by DJs and artists and will be welcomed with flowers by local citizens at various points.
Around 5,000 women carrying ‘kalash’ will greet Shah.
