‘Islamabad using an identical script’

Pakistan’s response to India’s request for verifiable action against terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed is disappointing, the External Affairs Ministry said on Thursday.

“Regrettably, Pakistan continues to be in denial and even refuses to acknowledge Pulwama as a terror attack. It has not shared details of credible action, if any, taken by it against terrorists or terrorist organisations based in territories under its control,” said the official spokesperson of the MEA, explaining that Islamabad had failed to address India’s concerns about the presence of Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camps and its leadership in Pakistan.

The spokesperson said India was not surprised at Pakistan’s response, as Islamabad followed “identical script” in addressing the concerns regarding LeT’s involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack and the 2016 Pathankot attack.

In a statement on Wednesday, Pakistan had said authorities there had detained 54 individuals, but there were no details on linking them to the Pulwama terror attack. The statement had declared that the 22 locations that India had shared had not shown the presence of terror camps. Islamabad’s findings were shared with India and the MEA said in its statement that it was examining the Pakistani report.

“There is no dearth of sufficient actionable information and evidence in Pakistan itself to take action against them, if there is sincerity and intent to do so,” the spokesperson said.
