SIVAGANGA
DMK president M.K. Stalin on Friday described BJP national secretary H. Raja, who is seeking election from Sivaganga Parliamentary constituency, as a person who posed a threat to communal and religious harmony.
The people of the constituency, he said, were well aware of Mr. Raja’s penchant for making controversial remarks, often whipping up communal and religious passions. They could not see a fraudulent politician like Mr. Raja anywhere in the country. It would also be an affront and insult to the electorate of the constituency if Mr. Raja was elected, he said.
According to Mr. Stalin, the BJP leader had openly called upon his party cadre to demolish Periyar statues and denigrated Dravidian leader and former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai. On the other hand, the Congress candidate Karti P. Chidambaram was given a seat out of merit and not because of the fact that he was the son of former Union Minister P. Chidambaram, Mr. Stalin added.
