NDA leaders receive him at Punkunnam

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Thushar Vellappally began his poll campaign in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency on Friday with much fanfare. As if to overcome the delay in declaring the candidate, his followers accompanied him to the city on motorbikes.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) leaders received him at Punkunnam in the morning. Then he entered the city accompanied by a motorbike rally. He travelled in an open jeep with BJP district president A. Nagesh and other BDJS leaders.

With the entry of the NDA candidate, the poll scenario gathered momentum in the constituency. His campaign posters appeared all over the city.

The State’s cultural capital is witnessing a triangular contest this time. UDF’s T.N. Prathapan and LDF’s Rajaji Mathew Thomas have already completed multiple rounds of campaigns in the constituency.

However, Mr. Thushar expressed confidence that he could utilise the remaining time effectively. The NDA had been effectively using social media for campaigns.

Thrissur is considered an important constituency with high possibility for a win by the BJP. Many senior leaders are expected to take part in his campaign.
