Hennessey’s 809 WHP McLaren 720S Looks And Sounds Ready For Takeoff

What could anyone possibly do to the McLaren 720S to make it even hotter? Why, if you’re Hennessey, then the obvious answer is injecting it with even more power.

The Texas-based tuner has given it the HPE900 treatment, which consists of upgrading a lot parts in the engine compartment, including the turbocharger and intercoolers, adding high-flow air filters and a stainless steel exhaust, and recalibrating the ECU.

As a result, the 4.0-liter V8 now pushes out a whopping 809 hp (821 PS / 604 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque at the wheels. The official McLaren spec sheet says the stock 720S has 710 hp (720 PS / 530 kW) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque at the crank, which allows it to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in a mere 2.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 212 mph (341 km/h).

From the outside, you can tell the modded 720S by the ‘Hennessey’ and ‘HPE900’ logos. There’s also a serial numbered dash plaque in the cockpit and another one in the engine compartment.

Hennessey is offering all upgrades with a 3-year/36,000-mile (57,936 km) warranty, and the HPE900 kit for the 720S is no exception, giving potential owners who yearn for even more power peace of mind. In the following video you can watch, and hear, Hennessey’s upgraded 720S being tested on the dyno – and this is no half-hearted effort, but a full-on, pedal to the metal run.
