Governor stresses preserving Indian culture at RU convocation
TNN | Mar 30, 2019, 05:24 ISTRanchi: Ranchi University vice-chancellor R K Pandey on Friday appealed to students to play an active role in the nation-building process while delivering his address at the university’s 32nd convocation ceremony.
“As vigilant citizens, you have a role to play in spreading awareness,” Pandey said.
He added, “Self-confidence is the key to excellence in life. As you pass out today, it is your chance to discover the talent and interests you have and set your life goals accordingly.”
Out of the 52,285 degree holders from the university in 2017 and 2018, around 4,700 students registered for the ceremony. They were dressed in traditional attires, which have been made compulsory for the first time this year. While girls were clad in red and white combination sarees or salwar kameez, boys wore white kurta-pyjamas or dhotis.
Governor-cum-chancellor, Droupadi Murmu, in her address stressed on the importance of preserving Indian culture.
“It is important for today’s youth to stay true to their language, land, origin and culture. We won’t be able to survive if we are cut-off from our roots. I congratulate all the students receiving their degrees today,” she said.
