Bhopal: Much hyped smart road project of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) will soon have a hospital along with the buildings of government establishment which will add to the traffic woes of the commuters. The commuters on the road are mostly the visitors of government institutions, who travel on wrong lane for reaching there. The MP Drama School, Regional Science Center, office of Scouts & Guide are already there and now a hospital will be developed there.
Those who shuttle between depot square and Polytechnic Square are now facing difficulties due to the faulty design of smart road. The smart road that passes through the front of these two government buildings but they do not have an access from the road on the other side. Due to this, the visitors take a wrong turn to visit the Regional Science Center or Natya Academy. Now, that the work at the smart road is also going slow, the diversions and other issues are adding up to the troubles of the daily commuters.
- Krishnendu Chowdhary, project coordinator in the Regional Science Center says that the issue was taken up before the developing agency but they denied allowing any passage for the commuters who come from the side of depot square. We have taken up the issue but they have always told that the design of road is that way and nothing is possible there now.
- Natya Vidyalaya director Alok Chatterjee says that the road has been designed in a way that is causes inconvenience to the visitors. If some passage is developed for them, it would save them from travelling on the wrong side, he says.
- Shyam Sen, a resident of Nehru Nagar area says that the square that lies near the MPEB office is also risky. He says that the road should have some indicators as vehicles from three direction pass through it.
- Ram Lakhan, a commuter in the area says that if one has to either reach the Regional Science Center or the Natya Vidyalaya, they will have to go to the next square and have to take a turn. He says that if a passage or even ladders are built on the road, anyone will easily reach these government institutions as on the wrong lane it is very risky to run in the evening. BSCDCL official Nitin Dave says that the two roads are developed at different heights which makes development of passage difficult.
