Lok Sabha elections: Become first-time voters, get free passes to IPL in Mohali

MOHALI: Mohali administration will be giving away a ticket for each upcoming IPL cricket matches to first 10 men, 10 women and 10 differently-abled youngsters who get themselves enrolled as voters in Mohali.
The tickets will be given for the IPL matches scheduled in April and May, said deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer (DC-DEO) Gurpreet Kaur Sapra here on Thursday.
Sapra said, "We wish to become the district with the highest number of youngsters enrolled as voters this time." The passes can be collected from the office of district election officer (ADEO) Sakshi Sawhney which is in room number 206 of District Administrative Complex. Sapra said the district administration has initiated a unique program for first time voters under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.
Hundred first time voters will get coffee mugs during the IPL matches which will be held at PCA, Mohali, on first come, first served basis. She added that three stalls will be placed on the three gates- 3-4, 5-6 and 14. The mugs can be claimed by showing electoral photo identity card from these stalls. DC-DEO told media houses in her office that the ECI was committed to conduct fair, transparent and fearless polls.
No using Army pics
The DEO said the EC had issued instructions that no political party should use pictures of defence personnel or their deployment during the campaign.
