A dog owner is furious after his border collie found and ate poisonous rat bait wrapped in bread.
Jose Zandveld was taking his 13-year-old dog Anzac for a walk on Wednesday in Hastings, Melbourne, when he spotted the scattered bread.
'He started nibbling on something on the ground which had some iridescent green in the middle,' Mr Zandveld said.

'I picked up a piece and put it in my pocket. When I got home it confirmed my thoughts that it was rat bait,' he said.
Despite removing the bag, Mr Zandveld found several more individually wrapped pieces scattered across both paths of a nature strip on Friday.
Anzac consumed at least one piece of the bread and vets had to induce vomiting to get rid of the poison.

'Rat bait can cause internal bleeding and Anzac has now been put on a course of tablets,' Mr Zandveld said.
'He has been walking on this street for the last 10 years and everybody knows and loves him.'
The incident has been reported to police and Mr Zandveld is hoping some CCTV footage from a nearby home will help with the investigation.
