Woman, child jump on train tracks, die

MARGAO/VALPOI: Four people died in three separate suicide cases that were reported on Wednesday.
In the first case, Padmavati Chavan, 24, a Hubbali native who was residing at Mungul, Salcete, ended her life along with her three-year old daughter by jumping in front of a moving train at Mungul. The incident occurred at around 6.30am on Wednesday. Police said the victim’s husband is a cloth merchant who owns a shop in Colva.
Satyavan Gaonkar, 27, a resident of Kodal-Sattari, committed suicide by hanging himself from a jackfruit tree. Police said that Satyavan was the son of Babuli Gaonkar, who was arrested on Friday for murdering his brother's wife Parvati Gaonkar at Kodal.
In the third case, Ashok Gawas, 41, who was residing at Saleli-Sattari, commited suicide by hanging himself.
Valpoi police conducted the panchanama and sent the bodies to Goa medical college and hospital for postmortem. Valpoi PI Sagar Ekoskar is investigating the case.
