U.S. Ambassador to India Kenneth Ian Juster called on Governor P.Sathasivam and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on Thursday and held discussions on promoting better cooperation with Kerala in various sectors.
During the interaction at Raj Bhavan, the Governor sought the possibility of more liberal issue of H1B Visas to engineers and IT professionals from Kerala.
Strengthening cooperation in tourism and creating more avenues for higher education in the U.S. for students from Kerala also figured in the discussion.
Ambassador Kenneth Juster expressed interest in Kerala’s efforts to attract more investors from the U.S.
He later called on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and conveyed his country’s willingness to invest in the IT sector in Kerala and work closely in the tourism, business, health and technology sectors. Mr.Vijayan sought the technical assistance of the U.S. for flood control and early warning of natural disasters.
