The Shiv Sena on Wednesday announced its list of 20 star campaigners, including party president Uddhav Thackeray and his son and Yuva Sena chief Aaditya, for the Lok Sabha elections.

The Shiv Sena is contesting the elections in alliance with the BJP and the two parties held a rally in Kolhapur recently to kick-start their joint campaign.

On the list are State Cabinet Ministers Subhash Desai, Diwakar Raote, Ramdas Kadam and Eknath Shinde, and Sena MPs Sanjay Raut, Anant Geete, Anandrao Adsul and Chandrakant Khaire.

Influential leaders

The list of star campaigners also includes the names of senior Sena leaders Aadesh Bandekar, Gulabrao Patil, Vijay Shivtare, Suryakant Mahadik, Vinod Ghosalkar, Neelam Gorhe, Laxman Vadle, Nitin Bangude Patil, Varun Sardesai and Rahul Londhe. While Mr. Raut is the editor of party mouthpiece Saamana, Mr. Bandekar is an actor and host of the popular Marathi show Zing Zing Zingat.

Mr. Adsul, Mr. Khaire, Mr. Geete, who will be contesting the elections, are expected to campaign for Sena candidates across the State.

Maharashtra will go to the polls in four phases on April 11, 18, 23 and 29. The counting of votes will take place in the State on May 23.
