Delhi University (DU) Registrar has called the process of revising the curricula of all undergraduate programmes in accordance with the University Grants Commission’s Learning Outcome-based Curricular Framework a “landmark move”.
The Registrar said that after introducing choice-based credit system in 2015, the university has initiated the process of revising curricula of all UG programmes.
The Registrar said that the revised curricula will be expressed in terms of outcomes related to knowledge, understanding, skill, attitudes and values. It aims to foster quality higher education in academic research, and contribution to society, said the Registrar.
The Registrar said that the process of revision of undergraduate courses began on March 11 by inviting all Deans and Heads for a detailed consultative meeting.
“Concerns regarding the proposed schedule were discussed and after deliberations the proposed schedule was approved. Consensus emerged on the need to revise the curriculum without any further delay. Participation of students in the curriculum revision process has also been ensured,” he said.
The revised courses are scheduled to be implemented from academic session 2019-20 and all students who join undergraduate courses, including those registered with the Non-Collegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB) and the School of Open learning, will follow the revised curricula based on the LOCF.
The university said that the curricula will be displayed on the university’s website to invite feedback from alumni, teachers, parents and academia.
