Seven candidates have remained in the race for Hassan Lok Sabha constituency after the scrutiny of papers conducted in Hassan on Wednesday.
According to a communiqué from the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the nomination paper submitted by B.J. Ramesh Mane was rejected as he had not paid the deposit amount. The paper submitted by M. Mahesh Urf Lokesh, who had submitted the papers as the BJP candidate, was rejected as he failed to submit A and B-form issued by the party within the stipulated time.
Similarly, papers submitted by Kempaiah and B.P. Kalappa were rejected as their affidavits were incomplete.
As many as 10 people had submitted a total of 18 sets of nomination papers. Among them, five were rejected. Seven people have remained in the fray. They are Prajwal Revanna of the JD(S), A. Manju of the BJP, Vinod Raj K.H. of the BSP, H.M. Chandre Gowda of Uttam Prajakeeya Party, Manjunath H.P. of Bharatiya Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Janata Party and Independents M. Mahesh and R.G. Sathish.
Objection
During the scrutiny of nomination papers, BJP candidate A. Manju complained to the Returning Officer that the JD(S) candidate had suppressed information about his share in two companies. Later, speaking to presspersons, Mr. Manju said the candidate should not suppress facts in his affidavit. “I have submitted my complaint. I will continue my fight on this issue if we don’t get justice by the Returning Officer,” he said.
