England eves whitewash Sri Lanka 3-0 in T20 series

The England women's team rode on a powerful batting effort to outclass by 96 runs in the third and final International and complete a 3-0 whitewash at the P. Sara Oval here on Thursday.

Put into bat, England openers (57 off 38) and (51 off 33) cracked half-centuries to lay the foundation for a big total.

While Wyatt's knock included six boundaries and a six, Jones' innings contained the same number of fours and couple of hits into the stands.

After the dismissal of the openers, incoming batswomen (42 not out off 25) and (49 off 24) took the Sri Lankan bowlers to cleaners as England piled up 204 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Chasing the huge target, just three hosts' batswomen reached the double-figure mark as could only manage 108 for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.

The visitors had outclassed by eight wickets in both the earlier clashes.

Brief scores

England: 204/2 in 20 overs (Amy Jones 57, 51; Oshadi Ranasinghe 2/28) beat Sri Lanka: 108/6 in 20 overs (Hansima Karunaratne 44*, Dilani Manodara 17; 2/20) by 96 runs.
