MILAN -- Volkswagen Group is not interested in a tie-up with rival Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, VW Group CEO Herbert Diess told Italian newspapers.
Asked whether Volkswagen was interested in Fiat Chrysler's premium brands Alfa Romeo and Maserati, Diess said his group "already owns luxury brands."
VW Group's efforts were all focused internally, Diess told Il Sole 24 Ore and other two newspapers.
Fiat Chrysler is seeking a partnership or merger, and Chairman John Elkann has met with other rivals, including PSA Group, to gauge the possibility of a deal, the Financial Times reported earlier this week.
