Private airline’s woes

more-in

The Jet Airways saga (Editorial, “Saving Jet”, March 28), only brings to mind the plight of the national carrier, Air India, which has been blamed for deep losses and recommended for privatisation on the ground that as an inefficient public sector undertaking, it needs a smart private management model. But the crisis in Jet Airways and, preceding this, Kingfisher Airlines, stand as classical examples that nullify the argument recommending privatisation as the panacea for PSU woes.
