Nagpur: The child welfare committee (CWC) on Wednesday asked the Government Railway Police (GRP), Nagpur to conduct an inquiry into the rescue of the 25 minors from Danapur-Secunderabad Express a day before by Railway Protection Force (RPF) and other NGOs. One of the minors was released to his relatives and the rest are now sheltered in Government Observation home.

CWC has extended their stay at the home officially until the inquiry is completed. RPF had also rounded up eight persons who were taking the minors in different groups. They were later handed over to the GRP for questioning. .

Chandrapur RPF had also rescued nine more minors from Ballarshah railway station who were being taken to different locations like Secunderabad, Badnera and Nagpur for engaging them in labour work. The rescue operation had taken place after a caller had alerted the Childline. Chandrapur RPF too had handed over the children to NGO Childline. The CWC has also asked the district child protection unit to conduct home inquiries of the rescued children.

Railway Childline and NGO Vardaan too has been asked by the CWC to try to summon the families of the rescued children for counselling. The office bearers of the NGO Vardaan, operating for Railway Childline has now made an appeal to the masses to alert them in case hey find any children under any stressful or mysterious circumstances. Sources from GRP said a detailed inquiry is being now conducted without rushing into registering offence of trafficking as of now. It's likely the offence would be registered in Nagpur before the case would be transferred to Danapur from where the children and the traffickers had boarded the train.
