FII inflows; derivatives expiry lift equity indices

Fresh inflows of foreign funds along with March derivatives expiry pushed the key Indian equity market indices higher by around 1 per cent each on Thursday.

Consequently, the S&P closed 412.84 points higher at 1.08 per cent to 38,545.72 points, while the NSE Nifty50 jumped to 124.95 point or 1.09 per cent at 11,570 points.

The top gainers on Sensex were HCL Tech, (SBI), Yes Bank, and which surge in the range of 3 to 2 per cent.

The losers in the Sensex pack were ONGC, Bajaj Auto, PowerGrid, NTPC and declined up to 1 to 0.70 per cent.
