Psychology has been introduced as an elective subject at the higher secondary stage of school education to put an emphasis on building one’s cognitive skills and an understanding of human behaviour. There are high chances of scoring good marks if the students study the NCERT textbook exhaustively. They should stress more on the four units which have the highest weightage of marks, especially the first, second, fourth and sixth unit. These units are very interesting and can help one acquire knowledge of various psychological attributes, psychological disorders, human personality, attitudes and social cognitions.

Students should remain calm and composed and start off by reading the question paper carefully to understand the question. Quote examples wherever possible to clarify the concepts as this will cast a good impression on the examiner.

You must write answers in bullet points and stress on the keywords and explain them well. Try to expand your vision before answering an application based question. The new pattern of question paper has a lot of options in every section. There are 10 one mark questions in the paper which you can crack easily if you are well versed with the lessons. Your answer should always be relevant to the marks allotted to the question.

Some of the lessons which are comparatively easy like Meeting Life Challenges, Psychology and Life, Developing Psychological Skills are often neglected by the students. These are scoring topics as they can be correlated to real life issues.

The students should maintain the sequence of the questions in the five parts of the question paper. If they are not confident about any answer they should leave enough space and go ahead to solve the next question rather than ponder over one answer and waste time. At the end they can come back to those questions.

Avoid spelling errors and write in simple language to express the concept.

Some of the concepts which can be expressed in the form of a flowchart should be drawn on the answer paper to give a clear picture of the concept.
