Nine new swine flu cases in city and Surat district

Surat: Seven fresh cases of swine flu were detected in the city and two in Surat district on Thursday. This has taken the number of swine flu patients to 354 with five deaths in the city and to 60 in Surat rural areas with five deaths since January 1.

A 33-year-old woman from Olpad and a 60-year-old woman from Kamrej in Surat district tested positive for swine flu. Those who tested positive for swine flu in the city, include a two-year-old boy from Matavadi, a five-year-old boy from Dindoli, a 19-year-old woman from Althan, a 62-year-old woman from VIP Road, a 30-year-old woman from Godadara, a 28-year-old woman from Ved Road and a 63-year-old man from Causeway Road.


Of the 34 patients receiving treatment for swine flu in city hospitals, nine are on ventilators and seven receiving oxygen support, sources said.
