Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch party’s campaign on March 28, after the Poll schedule was announced. Modi is set to conduct six rallies in a span of two days. He will address Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, Rudrapur in Uttarakhand and Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha is likely to join Congress on March 28, in New Delhi. The actor is a two-term BJP Lok Sabha member from Patna Sahib. He has been associated with BJP for over three decades. The shift comes in as BJP chose Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to field from the seat.
The Supreme Court is set to sought the response of the Election Commission (EC) on VVPAT survey on March 28. The top court had directed the poll panel to reply whether the commission can increase the number of samples in its Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) survey from one in each assembly segment for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The bench will comprise of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Deepak Gupta.
The Supreme Court on March 28 is set to hear a plea filed by DMK seeking direction to the Election Commission (EC) to hold by-elections in the three vacant assembly seats in Tamil Nadu. Dravinda Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party wants to seek by-polls for Tiruparankundram, Ottapidaram and Aravakurichi assembly constituencies.
US Trade delegation is set to visit China on March 28. This two day meet will focus on the next round of negotiations between the two countries. The delegation will be headed by Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.
