Mohali: Ex takes birthday cake for girl, kills her new boyfriend

Representative imageMOHALI: A jealous former boyfriend of a 16-year-old girl allegedly killed her lover when he found him at her house in Nayagaon on Monday night.
Mohit, the 20-year-old main accused, had gone to the place of the girl with a cake to celebrate his birthday with two of his friends Gourav alias Gota (21) and Ranjeet Singh. However, the girl had gone to the market. When he found Rakesh, the victim, at the house, heated arguments broke out between the two. A few minutes later, Mohit with the help to his two friends slit the throat of Rakesh with a knife, police said.
Police said the murder came to light when Rakesh did not return to his house in Balongi and his relatives reached the girl’s house while looking for him. They found him lying in a pool of blood on a bed.
Inspector Gurwant Singh, Nayagaon station house officer, said “Rakesh had been staying at the girl’s house for last two days. On Monday, Mohit and two others came to her house to celebrate his birthday. When they found Rakesh there, they killed him,” he said.
The father of the girl works in Uttarakhand, while mother at a private hotel.
A case under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC was registered at Nayagaon police station.
