Crime Branch cracks 2-yr-old murder case

PUNE: The sleuths from the Crime Branch Unit 2 of Pune police have nabbed a youth and claimed to have recovered six stolen bikes from his possession. 

Police said that the accused had killed his friend in 2017 and the case has been solved with his arrest. 

The accused has been identified as Noyal Shaban of Queens Garden area. Based on a tip-off received by policemen Mohsin Shaikh and Yashwant Khandare, a team led by Police Inspector Gajanan Pawar nabbed Shaban on March 18 near ST stand outside Pune railway station. 

Police recovered the stolen bikes which he had hidden in bushes near Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute (BARTI), Queens Garden.  

According to police, Shaban used to commit burglaries along with his accomplice Suraj Nadar (20) of Patil Estate slums. 

There was a dispute between them over the division of stolen booty and  Shaban killed Nadar on the railway tracks near Koregaon Park overbridge. 

The railway police had found Nadar’s body on November 3, 2017.

Investigation team included API Laxman Dhengale, Jaywant Jadhav, and policemen Sanjay Dalvi, Anil Usulkar, Shekhar Koli, Ajay Kharade, Vinayak Jadhav, Rakesh Khunve, Vivek Jadhav and Chandrakant Mahajan.
