Members of Singapore Airlines’ frequent flyer programme Krisflyer can now earn miles by ordering takeaway food on food delivery app Foodpanda.
From March 25 and until the end of 2019, for every Singapore dollar (US$0.7) spent on Foodpanda, KrisFlyer members will be able to earn one mile, with a minimum order of S$35 (US$25.9).
To start earning miles, Foodpanda customers will need to include their KrisFlyer membership number in the “Contact Info” section during checkout. After the first successful transaction, their KrisFlyer membership details will be automatically included in their Foodpanda profile for future orders. KrisFlyer miles will be credited into user accounts within six weeks after each successful order.
Luc Andreani, managing director of Foodpanda Singapore, said in a statement: “We’re excited to be the first food delivery company to partner KrisFlyer, to bring even more rewards and benefits to our customers. Our customers’ experience has been and will always be a key focus and priority for us. This long-term partnership with KrisFlyer further cements our commitment to continually enhance user experience and introduce new perks for our customers.”
To celebrate the launch, Foodpanda is giving away limited-edition luggage tags to users who order from European bistro and wine bar, Ginett, or burger restaurant, 25 Degrees, with a minimum order value S$35 and while stocks last.
Krisflyer is not the only airline loyalty programme that is introducing unusual ways to accrue miles. Qantas Frequent Flyer recently started letting users earn Qantas Points simply by sleeping.
In March 2018, we reported that Singapore Airlines had partnered with professional driver service Blacklane, enabling members of its Krisflyer frequent-flyer programme to earn miles when booking rides.
Foodpanda has more than 30,000 partner restaurants in more than 190 cities across 12 Asian and Central European countries. Foodpanda is active in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, Taiwan, Philippines, Bangladesh, Romania and Bulgaria.
