When Is The Walking Dead Season 9 Finale?

The Walking Dead has been through a lot in Season 9. From the departure of star Andrew Lincoln, to a six-year time jump, to the introduction of new adversaries the Whisperers, to the massacre of 10 characters in one fell swoop. And now, it all comes to a close this Sunday, March 31 at 9/8c on AMC.

The Season 9 finale is called "The Storm," and it will find two groups of survivors trying to travel through a blizzard away from the fallen Kingdom. Unfortunately, they'll have to pass through the land that Alpha (Samantha Morton) savagely claimed for herself in "The Calm Before," which could set off a war. And Carol (Melissa McBride) will be grappling with her complex feelings of resentment and pity toward Lydia (Cassady McClincy), whose relationship with her adoptive son Henry (Matt Lintz) led to Henry getting killed by Alpha as revenge for him taking Alpha's own daughter away from her. The episode is written by showrunner Angela Kang and directed by executive producer Greg Nicotero. It will be slightly longer than average, running one hour and nine minutes with commercials. Notably, it will be the first time we've ever seen snow on The Walking Dead.

The finale will be preceded by a marathon of Season 9 on AMC starting with the season premiere, "A New Beginning," at 3:55a/2:55c on Sunday morning, leading up the finale at 9/8c. Season 9 can also be streamed on AMC Premiere and the AMC app. Previous seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
