2019 Mazda3 AWD Reviews Are In: Is It The Compact Car You Should Buy?

Journalists across the United States recently had the opportunity to test out the new 2019 Mazda3 in all-wheel drive configuration. Like the non-AWD models, it is a pretty impressive little car.

The videos below, coming from Redline Reviews, Driving and The Straight Pipes on YouTube, were filmed near Lake Tahoe in California and provide an in-depth look at the new Mazda3.

Sales of the all-new Mazda3 only commenced in the United States earlier this month and prices start at $21,895 for the entry-level Mazda3 Sedan, while the sexy(er) Mazda3 Hatchback starts at $24,495. Both are powered by a SkyActiv-G 2.5-liter petrol engine with 186 hp at 6000 rpm and 186 lb-ft (252 Nm) of torque at 4000 rpm.

The Mazda3 is easily the best looking vehicle in the mainstream segment

The two compacts can be optioned with the i-Activ all-wheel drive system for an additional $1,400 and all models are outfitted as standard with a six-speed automatic transmission. With that being said, the Mazda 3 Hatchback Premium Package does feature a six-speed manual gearbox.

Those who purchase the new Mazda3 will be pleased to know that it comes standard with an interior loaded with features. This includes the car manufacturer’s latest infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the new Mazda3 includes leatherette seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, and rain-sensing wipers.

Now for the all-important question, is the all-wheel drive system worth it? If you’re looking to make your Mazda sedan or hatchback that little more practical, all-wheel drive is the way to go. Also, all-wheel drive is an option that only costs $1400 so it really is a no-brainer.
