PANCHKULA: During the coming Navaratras the Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board has built a new passage for the devotees to enter and offer their prayers.

Providing the information, chief executive officer (CEO), Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board, S P Arora, said," Seeing long queues at the temple during every Navratras made us take the decision of building a new passage for the devotees for hassle-free offering of prayers on the temple premises."

The CEO also mentioned that a budget of Rs 40 lakh was prepared for the work and in the project a place for 500 persons near the place for holding havans has also been created so that more people can take part in the ceremony during the morning time. Besides this, artists will paint the walls with the images of gods in story form, which will be a unique feature during this Navratras.

Deputy Commissioner Balkar Singh also held a meeting with the shrine board officials over the preparations of the coming Navratras from April 6-14. During the meeting the first thing which was discussed was the security of the devotees coming from all parts of the country. The law and order situation in the entire city and near temple should remain tight to avoid any mishappenings, the DC told the officials. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Om Prakash will be ensuring the presence of cops, along with home guards in or near both temples.

The nine-day-long festival will be celebrated at the Mansa Devi Temple and Kali Mata Temple, Kalka. Haryana Roadways and Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) staff will help in providing the transport facility to the devotees. A time table will be prepared for direct bus services from Zirakpur, Panchkula and Chandigarh.

The electricity department will ensure the beautification of the temple by using decorative lighting. The weight and measures department will make sure that proper packing of 'prasad' outside the temple is taken care of. Use of plastic bags will be banned.

On the other hand, municipal corporation (MC) officials will look after the cleanliness and beautification aspects in and around the temple. Health officials and fire department will help in emergency services, besides cops.
