AMRITSAR: Pakistan has included controversial Khalistani sympathiser Gopal Singh Chawla, who has close ties with terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed, in a special 10-member committee of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) to “help facilitate” the visit of Indian pilgrims at Kartarpur Sahib for the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
Pakistan’s federal minister for information and broadcasting, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said: “Since the Kartarpur corridor is opening in November, the 10-member PSGPC committee has a significant role to play in the facilitation of visitors, management of gurdwara etc.” Chawla is the general secretary of PSGPC. He is also the founder-chairman of Punjabi Sikh Sangat, a religious body to book Sikh rituals in Pakistan’s historic gurdwaras.
