Many South Africans can look forward to a pleasant day on Thursday as warm weather has been predicted for most parts of the country.

However, extremely high fire danger conditions have been issued for three provinces - the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the central parts of the Free Sate and the western parts of the North West, according to information provided by the South African Weather Service.

The weather in your region

It will be cloudy and warm in Gauteng. The expected UVB Sunburn Index will be very high.

Mpumalanga will have early morning fog patches along the escarpment. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm but cool in the Highveld.

It will be partly cloudy and warm but hot in the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley of Limpopo. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the extreme southwest towards the evening.

The North West will be fine and hot. It will be partly cloudy in the extreme west, spreading eastwards by the afternoon. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the north-eastern parts towards the evening.

Fine and warm conditions are expected in the Free State, becoming partly cloudy in the north and east.

Morning fog patches are expected along the coast of the Northern Cape. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the northeast. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly, freshening by the afternoon.

The Western Cape will be fine and warm but partly cloudy and cool along the coast with morning fog patches along the west and south-west coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate westerly to south-westerly.

It will be fine and warm in the Eastern Cape. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly.

Morning fog is expected over the interior of KwaZulu-Natal. Otherwise, it will be cloudy and cool but warm in places in the east with rain and isolated showers. The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly, freshening from the south in the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn index will be moderate.
