PIMPRI: Pimpri Chinchwad BJP city unit chief and MLA Laxman Jagtap shared a platform with NCP’s Maval Lok Sabha candidate Parth Pawar on Saturday, causing speculation over his role in the ongoing poll campaign.

The BJP city president has not shared any platform nor attended a coordination committee meeting with his arch political rival Shiv Sena candidate and sitting MP Shrirang Barne so far.

Parth Pawar visited a large number of mandals celebrating Shiv Jayanti in Pimpri Chinchwad on Saturday. He was accompanied by NCP Pimpri Chinchwad Unit President Sanjog Waghere and corporator Nana Kate.

Pawar and Jagtap met each others and shared a platform during the meeting. Parth Pawar shook hands with Jagtap, a former NCP leader and former city mayor, and sought his help in the elections.

Corporator Kate said Jagtap has assured the NCP candidate to help him. Jagtap, who holds sway over the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, was interested in contesting the Maval Lok Sabha poll as a BJP nominee. However in the seat sharing arrangement, the seat went to Shrirang Barne of the Shiv Sena.
