Not contesting LS polls, Khodaldham chief’s son clarifies
TNN | Mar 26, 2019, 04:00 ISTRajkot: Shivraj Patel, son of Khodaldham Trust chairman Naresh Patel has issued a statement contest clarifying that he won’t be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“As per the advise of my family members I have decided not to contest the election,” his statement read. According to sources, the Congress party had been trying to convince Naresh Patel to contest the Lok Sabha elections. And if he did not wish to do so, the Congress was ready to offer the ticket to any of his family members.
Posters had come up across Rajkot city on Sunday with message “Bhai is coming” with picture of Shivaraj Patel on it.
“I am thankful for the support of the people and community but I will follow the advise of my family and now it has become necessary to clear the air,” Shivraj said when asked about the posters.
According to sources, since Congress has no strong Patidar candidate against BJP’s Mohan Kundariya, and the party was planning to give ticket to sitting Tankara MLA Lalit Kagathra, who also belongs to Kadva Patidar community like Kundariya.
