Four members of a Muslim family, which was attacked by a group of men in Gurugram on March 21, were admitted to Lok Nayak Hospital on Sunday, said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan.
The four persons — Shadab, Sajid, Irshad and Shakrina — have sustained serious head injuries.
The incident took place at Mr. Sajid’s house in Dhamaspur village on Holi. The victims claimed that the accused hurled religious slurs at them and told them to go to Pakistan. Mr. Khan said that Mr. Sajid had been stabbed and sustained an injury on his arm.
He claimed that the patients had gone to AIIMS Trauma Centre on Saturday, but were not able to avail the required treatment, after which they went to Safdarjung Hospital. The MLA said that the victims were unable to get admitted to the hospital as “it was late”.
The injured were finally brought to Lok Nayak Hospital after they got in touch with my staff, the MLA said.
A neurosurgeon at the hospital said that the injured were stable and their CT scans showed no problem either. He said that other departments would examine the patients before they are discharged.
Doctors at the hospital said that the patients had been transferred from AIIMS and had been involved in an assault incident in Gurugram, but could not confirm if they were the victims of the recent attack on the family in Bhondsi.
Calling for strict action against the accused, Mr. Khan alleged that the attack was carried out by BJP workers and was a result of an environment of hatred created by the party. “Finding a connection between every Muslim person and Pakistan is wrong. It is not a crime to be a Muslim,” he said.
