Forum suggests list during interaction with BJP candidate

Improved flight connectivity, job opportunities, metro railway and a river rejuvenation project figure highly in the wish list put forth to political parties by the industry in the State capital in the run-up to the general elections.

The list of ambitious projects were pitched by Awake Trivandrum, a conglomeration of business heads, technocrats and entrepreneurs representing various organisations including the Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), during ‘meet the candidate’ sessions that were organised to facilitate interactions with the candidates fielded by the political parties from the Thiruvananthapuram constituency.

During an interaction with BJP candidate Kummanam Rajasekharan on Sunday, the delegates lamented the recent spate of agitations surrounding the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. In his response, Mr. Rajasekharan said he rooted for privatisation to spur development of the region. He said that the State government’s stance was contradictory as it sought to attract private companies, even while backing stirs against privatisation. He added that Thiruvananthapuram was yet to exploit its potential as a heritage city on par with Jaipur, which has gone miles ahead in terms of development.
