2019-03-25 11:51

Cape Town - SA's top-ranked golfer Louis Oosthuizen has cracked the Top 20 on the world golf rankings following his finish at the Valspar Championship this past weekend.

The 36-year-old carded a final round of 2-under 69 to finish tied for second on 7-under for the tournament alongside American Jason Kokrak.

Oosthuizen, whose only PGA Tour win came at the 2010 Open Championship, finished a stroke adrift from eventual winner Paul Casey of England.

Oosthuizen cashed in on $589 600 (R8.5 million) for his efforts this past weekend and also moved up to 61st on the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup standings.

He collected his second top-five finish in his seventh start of the 2018/19 season, which included a tied for 5th at the CIMB Classic.

His runner-up finish saw Oosthuizen move up seven places to sit 20th on the world golf rankings.
