KOLKATA: A high tide swamped ghats of Belur Math on Sunday, catching devotees and tourists by surprise.
High tide waves lashed the ghats of the Belur Math in West Bengal. Monks and devotees residing at the holy place were panic-struck.

In 1898, Swami Vivekananda consecrated the Belur Math and established the Ramakrishna Mission on May 1, that year.

Weatherman has predicted a thunderstorm is set to strike Kolkata between Monday night and Wednesday evening.

A video of the incident went viral on social media, where a passenger ferry can be seen struggling in the deep water.
